Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in Dreamer and Loyalist Swatches, Review

Hello beauties,

I have been on a hauling spree since the new year began (read HERE) and as promised I will be putting up makeup reviews of all (read most of) the products that I have got. So, today I bagin with reviewing the Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick. A recent launchin around 10 shades from which I was drooling over the two nu?ish milky shades Loyalist and Dreamer. Read on to know my opinion about this new liquid lipstick range from Maybelline India.

Price: INR 650 for 5 gms of the product.

I am using Maybelline makeup after a long long time and I was really impressed with the advances in packaging they have come up with even though it is a drugstore brand and quite affordable.

The packaging is quiet nice in my opinion though a bit bulky. The best part is that the tube is the same color as the product so you don't have to spend a lot of time in searching for the product in your vanity.

The liquid lipstick comes with a doe foot applicator with small dents on each side which acts as a reservoir for the product. With both these shades the applicator picks up enough product to cover the lips and you don't have to dip in again. I love the applicator, it is pointed and very good for covering the innermost corners of the thinnest lips and helps in outlining the lips precisely.

Swatches:
(Left: Loyalist, Right: Dreamer)

The lipsticks have a faint vanilla like scent which stays on for quite some time. The formulation is quiet thick unlike some other liquid lipsticks which I have tried. The liquid lipstick takes quiet some time to set, which according to me is an advantage as it allows you some play time to smoothen out the edges, apply an even coat, correct mistakes in application etc. in comparison to some other lipsticks which start drying during application itself.

The setting time of the lipstick is around 5 - 10 minutes in my opinion and during that time they do transfer if you are eating or drinking something. On the other hand even upon setting they feel quiet comfortable they have a balmy kind of feel on the lips. The finish of these lipsticks is not the drying kind of matte. Both the shades I have are quiet pigmented, opaque, and apply evenly. The rest of the shades I am not too sure about, but have heard that the darker shades are a bit patchy.

These lipsticks are the best transfer proof lipsticks which I have tried till date. They don't budge, smudge, or crease once set. Even after having the most greasiest meals ever, I didn't notice and feathering of the lipstick. I have worn them for 10 hours straight with full meals and they simply didn't budge. Though with time they do tend to feel dry but not the uncomfortable kind of drying. This makes me come to removal of these lipsticks. The long staying power ensures that you will have to spend a good 5 - 10 minutes in complete removal of these and it will take biphasic remover, the kinds used to remove waterproof mascara to remove these.

Overall, I love the staying power of these lipsticks, once set and also both the shades which I have picked. With the excellent price point I would definitely recommend buying these two shades if you are craving for milky nudes for daily wear as I was.
