Microwave Recipe: Sooji Halwa

Hello Girls,

How was your weekend, hope all of you are having a good time this festive season. Today, I decided to make some halwa, poori, and chole, as jains traditionally don't celebrate navratras but of course, everyone loves good food.

So, today I decided to make the traditional Sooji halwa, but in a microwave and with milk. So, I start by listing ingredients first:

1 cup Sooji / Semolina
1/2 cup ghee / clarified butter
1 cup Sugar
4 cups Milk
A few strands of saffron
Cardamom Powder (1 tsp)
Some nuts (for garnish)

Start by adding the strands of saffron to milk and let them sit for 10-15 minutes.

Next, take the sooji in a microwave safe bowl, add ghee and microwave the mixture for five minutes on high, stirring after every one minute.

It will look something like this:

Add sugar and milk to the sooji and microwave the mixture on high for 5 more minutes or till the milk has been completely absorbed by sooji.

Add cardamom powder and nuts to the hot halwa and serve.

Hope you girls like this traditional halwa made the microwave way. Do let me know your comments below.

Take care...
